

The Indian Institute of Science (IISc), founded in 1909 in Bangalore, was established through a collaboration between industrialist Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata and the Government of India. It operates as a Deemed University and is recognized by the UGC. Additionally, it holds an A++ grade from NAAC. In the 2024 NIRF rankings, IISc Bangalore secured the top spot among research institutes and was placed 100th globally in the QS World University Rankings for research. IISc Bangalore provides various UG, PG, and Ph.D. programs such as B.Tech in Mathematics & Computing, B.Sc, M.Tech, MS, M.Sc, and Ph.D. Its flagship program is a B.Sc. offering with seven specializations. Admission to the B.Sc. program requires qualification in one of the national tests like KVPY, JEE (Main or Advanced), or NEET, contingent on the chosen stream. From 2022, IISc Bangalore began offering a B.Tech program in Mathematics and Computing with admissions based on JEE Main scores followed by JoSAA/CSAB counseling. The first-year fee for the B.Tech program is INR 2.2 lakhs, while the B.Sc. program costs INR 30,200. The placement details for 2025 at IISc Bangalore are yet to be released. However, for 2024, the highest package offered was INR 86 lakh per annum, with an average package of INR 28 lakh per annum. Some of the top recruiters include prominent companies like Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Intel, Siemens, Cisco, Qualcomm, and Mahindra & Mahindra.
