CEPT University, officially known as the Centre for Environmental Planning and Technology, was founded in 1962 with support from the Government of Gujarat. Located in Ahmedabad, CEPT is a private institution recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) since 1956 and by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (SIRO). The university was established by the Ahmedabad Education Society (AES) alongside the Gujarat and Indian governments. CEPT University's overall ranking by IIRF in 2025 is 16th among 103 colleges in India, and it claims the 6th rank in the top 10 for Architecture and Planning as per NIRF 2024. Focusing on the design, planning, and management of human habitats, CEPT offers programs across six faculties: Architecture, Planning, Technology, Design, Management, and a Foundation Program introduced in 2017. The university's flagship program is the Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch). Admission requires scores from exams like NATA, JEE Main, GUJCET, GATE, and GRE. The seats for the B.Arch course are filled by ACPC and CEPT University, with ACPC filling 50% based on state-level rankings and the remaining seats filled by CEPT based on NATA All India Rankings. The first-year cost of the B.Arch program is INR 4.55 Lakhs, while the two-year M.Arch course is INR 10.7 Lakhs. Although the placement statistics for 2024–25 are not yet available, the NIRF report reveals that in 2023–24, CEPT University placed 47 undergraduates with a median package of INR 5.8 LPA and 204 postgraduates with a median package of INR 7 LPA. Companies like Larsen & Toubro, Deloitte, KPMG, Reliance Industries Limited, EY, and HDFC Bank are notable recruiters.
